Each year throughout April, National Donate Life Month promotes the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation. Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network thanks all who participated in our 2015 National Donate Life Month events in April! From donor registry drives and sporting events, to our "Show, Share, Win!" photo contest celebrating National Blue & Green Day,... National Donor Sabbath, two weekends before Thanksgiving, is a time for faith leaders of all denominations across our region to alert communities to the pressing need for organ and tissue donations to save lives. Every New Year's Day, the Donate Life Rose Parade Float serves as a memorial to organ, eye and tissue donors. Introduced in 2004, it also provides a platform for donor families, living donors and transplant recipients to inspire the world. The 2015 Rose Parade took place in Pasadena on a surprisingly cold New Year's Day. Time Warner Cable News focused on the Donate Life Float, and highlighted the incredible story that brought three individuals and their families together through organ ... Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network and University of Rochester Medical Center are among the official sponsors. As we have done for the past six years, the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network had the pleasure of participating as a sponsor of the 2014 Donate Life Float. And the float was recognized as the winner of the Theme Award. On June 17, 2013, more than 70 organizations supporting Donate Life America's life-saving mission unveiled their 11th Donate Life Rose Bowl Parade float: "Light Up the World," a festival of beautiful lanterns that will inspire viewers worldwide to sa... FLDRN participated in America's most visible campaign to inspire people to become organ donors, the Rose Bowl Parade. Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network was proud to honor a local organ donor and an organ transplant recipient. This festival-style event brings together athletes, living donors, donor families, as well as members of the amazing medical community involved in transplantation to promote the life-changing impact that donation represents today. Team Finger Lakes is looking forward to representing our region at the 2016 Transplant Games of America – our team's third appearance at the Games. Next year's event will be held in Cleveland, Ohio from June 10-15. The Donate Life Transplant Games will bring thousands touched by organ, tissue and cornea donation to Cleveland in the summer of 2016, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission announced in April 2014. The Donate Life Transplant Games of America took place in Houston, Texas in July 2014. Our region was proudly represented by Team Finger Lakes. INCLUDES SLIDESHOW. Well Done! Team Finger Lakes picked up 20 medals at the Games in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Observed annually from August 1 through 7, National Minority Donor Awareness Week creates awareness of the need for more organ, eye, and tissue donors, especially among minorities. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually in the United States from September 15 through October 15. As the nation celebrates Hispanic heritage, culture and accomplishments, Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network (FLDRN) urges Hispanics to celebrate...
